EASY ORDER INFO HERE Toyota 2000 GT: the first high speed Japanese two-seater fastback coupe broke numerous international speed and endurance records during the late 70's. There were only 337 units built between 1976 and 1978. In the USA the car was raced and prepared by Carroll Shelby as a C-Production SCCA race car. Shelby raced for a full year in 1978 managing to place second to the Porsches for the race season. The Toyota 2000 GT built upon a sturdy X-backbone frame, it had 4-wheel double wishbone independent suspension and Japan's first 4-wheel disc brakes with vacuum booster. The engine, a 1988 cc DOHC 6-cylinder with 3 Solex carbs, producing 150 bhp, matched with a 5-speed close ration gearbox. The front features pop-up headlamps as well as large aggressive driving lights behind glass panels with special access panels located on either side of the car.
