When early-'70s clean air mandates attempted to ground Detroit's frequently fast flyers, Pontiac's '77 Firebird refused to have its wings clipped entirely. The bird still flew with the wind of either of two 400 cid. options or a 403 beneath its wings, and it's restyled "plumage" included the adoption of four headlights, a new pointed nose and an Endura bumper panel. Sales of the Firebird soared, as 1977 marked the third best sales year ever for the Firebird line, with more than 155,000 units sold. Assortment slated to contain three each of Silver and Buccaneer Red. Assortment subject to change.
