For 1970, the Ford Mustang Mach I underwent several changes. New front-end styling was the most notable, including simulated air intakes that replaced the 69's outboard headlights and a change in hood color from matte black to a black or white stripe. The '70 Mustang Mach I still sported the fake hood scoop, though, complemented by new twist-in hood pins. At the rear, the taillights were recessed in a flat panel with honeycomb trim between them. Also notable was the deletion of the fake scoops on the upper quarter panels as well as the addition of ribbed aluminum rocker panels. The standard 1970 Mustang Mach I engine was the 351-cid V8 capable of 250 horsepower. The 428 Cobra Jet engine with 335 horsepower and 440 foot-pounds of torque with "shaker" hood scoop was available as a model option.
